St. Francis Wrestling Club 2003 – 2004 Results Summary

April 2004

• April 3-4: Jacob Martin, Nathan Cook, Chase Leedy, Jerome Robinson, Daniel Cook, and Jason Mossing represented Northwest Ohio at the 1st annual grade school state championships held at Bowling Green State University. These participants competed in 23 matches and came away with 15 victories.

Jacob Martin won five matches on his way to a Division II (3rd and 4th grade) 70lb State Championship. Jake avenged a district final loss by defeating Joey Ward of Wapakoneta in the championship finals by a score of 2-1. Jake Martin is the first ever St. Francis Wrestling Club State Champion! · Jerome Robinson won four matches on his way to claiming the DIII (5th and 6th grade) 70lb State Championship. Jerome faced a battle-tested opponent in the finals, Conner Dempsey from Cleveland OH. After 8 meetings over a three year period Jerome and Conner are even  at four victories a piece. Conner claimed the first four victories prior to 2003. March 2004

· Mar 20-21st:

Rocky Mountain Nationals in Denver CO - Jerome Robinson won the 70lb weight class in the 12 and under age division. He defeated five opponents from four different states (MT, IL, CO, SD). By capturing this 26-person-bracket championship, Jerome completed a significant accomplishment. This marked a 4th straight tournament win in the Rocky Mountain National Youth wrestling series. In addition to this RMN tournament, the series included: The Monster Match, Nov 8-9, 2003 - Denver CO; Las Vegas Nationals,  Dec 13-14, 2003 - Las Vegas NV; Who's Bad Classic, Jan  3-4, 2004 - Denver CO. This accomplishment has earned Jerome two very special awards: The US Triple Crown of Youth Wrestling and The Golden Gear award. Congratulations Jerome! 

• Mar 19th: The SF Kids Club and Junior High Wrestling club members competed in an informal CYO scrimmage at CCHS 

• Mar 12-13th:
• Bryce Leedy, Kyle Leedy, and Billy Osborne represented the St. Francis Wrestling Club in the 6th Annual Junior High State Wrestling Championships held at MAC Arena, Kent State University.
• Bryce Leedy was named to the Academic All Ohio 2004 Team see full team here.
• This tournament brought together the finest 6th, 7th, and 8th grade wrestlers in the state of Ohio in a single 'Division' 32 man bracket tournament, after two days of wrestling 16 champions were crowned. see full results here.
• In this debut for the SFWC each of the three representatives came home with a victory!
• With this gained experience the SFWC will be even more prepared for this event next season.  see a couple more photos here

• Mar 6th: Grade School Districts at Oregon Clay High School: Five members of the SFWC practice squad qualified to the Grade School State Tournament to be held in Bowling Greene OH on Saturday April 3rd. Congratulations!!

February 2004

• Feb 15th: SFWC Qualifies four to Junior High States! Congratulations to Bryce Leedy, Kyle Leedy, Justin Flores, and Billy Osborne!  see more photos and results here

January 2004

• Jan 28th: The SFWC travels to Fassett JH to wrestle Fassett & Jones Junior High in a tri-meet driving directions to Fassett - canceled due to weather
• Jan 25th: Maumee Youth Tournament, Chase Leedy & Joe Janke won individual Championships. Nathan Cook placed 2nd.
• Jan 23rd  - The St. Francis Wrestling Club traveled to St. Paris Oh, to compete in a dual meet round robbin with St. Paris Graham JH reserves and Marian Pleasant JH.See summary and photos here
• Jan 21st  - The St. Francis Wrestling Club traveled to Elmwood, to compete in a tri-match with Elmwood and Arcadia Junior Highs. See results and photos

• Jan 18^th : SF Wrestling Club traveled to Lakewood St. Edwards for the Junior High Catholic Invitational Tournament. The Club was welcomed to Cleveland first by the weather and second by some fierce competition! Ten representatives competed in 40 matches and came away with 22 victories and 3 individual place winners. The JH Knights are now calibrated as to where they stand and are prepared to move forward! see more photos and details
• Jan 14^th - Eighteen Representatives of the St. Francis Wrestling Club competed in 27 matches and came away with 23 victories! Valuable experience was gained by all! Congratulations Knights! see photos
• Jan 11^th:: Perrysburg "Biddy Pit" Wrestling Tourny: Jacob Martin, Nathan Cook, Daniel Cook, Eric Brown, Alex Laney, and Alex Marzec placed 1st,1st, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively. Congratulations!
• Jan 10^th : Bowling Green Wrestling-Black Swamp Open: Joe Janke, Chase Leedy (wrestling up an age braket), and Alex Marzec placed 2nd, 3rd, and 4th respectively. Congratulations!
• Jan 8^th: SFWC vs Maumee Gateway Middle School and gained twenty-two more matches worth of valuable mat time see results and photos here. So far this season the SF Wrestling Club has competed in 106 individual dual meet matches and has come away with 71 victories. The number of matches is the important number, as these youngsters gain valuable experience.

• Jan 4^th : Jacob Martin, Nathan Cook, and Daniel Cook placed, 2nd,2nd, and 4th respectively at the Sandusky Perkins Youth Tournament.
• Jan 3^rd :

• Chase Leedy and Jason Mossing placed 2nd and 3rd respectively at the Edison youth tournament in Milan Ohio. Chase's 2nd place finish was accomplished even though he wrestled up an age group (11-12).

December 2003

· Dec 29^th: 18 members of the SFWC traveled to Sylvania Northview for a scrimmage between Findlay Central Middle School and Timberstone Junior High – a good workout was had by all!

· Dec 28^th: Chase Leedy wins the Norwalk St. Paul Biddy Wrestling Tournament. Congratulations Chase!

· Dec 27th: The St. Francis Wrestling Club took 14 members to the Montrose MI, Holiday Tournament. The tournament had 600+ entrants from 8 states. SFWC wrestlers participated in 51 matches and came away with 29 victories. Seven of the fourteen wrestlers placed in the top four of their respective age and weight categories.

Justin Flores was an individual champion. Billy Osborne placed 2nd, Kyle Leedy, and Alex Laney placed 3rd, Bryce Leedy, Kris Adams, and Jason Mossing placed 4th. Congratulations to all who participated!! check the website

· Dec 18th: St Francis Junior High Wrestling Club  competed in 16 matches against the Bedford Junior High Broncos and were victorious in 10 matches. Congratulations on a fine performance!

· Dec 14: Jacob Martin wins the Beachwood Brawl Wrestling Tournament. Congratulations Jacob!

· Dec 12-13th: Members of the Junior High Club attended a field trip to the Ironman Wrestling Tournament at Walsh Jesuit High School see results

· Dec 7th: Maumee Youth Tourny: Erik Brown wins a championship!! Alex Marzec, Daniel Cook, Peter Russell all had victories and placed in the top four of their respective age and weight categories.

· Dec 4th: St Francis Wrestling Club had a dual meet scrimmage with Bowling Green Junior High. Congratulations to: Bryce Leedy, Nico Covarrubias, Jake Martin, Daniel Cook, Kyle Leedy, Billy Osborne, Kyle Shutt, Aaron Dietsch, Colton Hanus, Peter Russell, Erik Brown, Kris Adams, and Shamar Rushine on their victories!!!

November 2003

· Nov 29^th: The USA Wrestling Winter Nationals where held November 28th & 29th 2003 in Danville, Ill. Congratulations to Jerome Robinson and Justin Flores. Jerome placed 2nd and Justin placed 5th. see the tournament website

· Nov 21st: SF Wrestling club goes to Otsego

· Nov 15th: Eleven wrestlers from the St. Francis Wrestling Club traveled to Holt Michigan to compete in the Border Wars Folkstyle Wrestling National Championships. The club competed in 36 individual matches and compiled 21 victories. Jacob Martin was an individual Champion after winning a hard fought overtime victory in the finals. The club had nine overall individual placers (one-Champ, four-Runnerups, two-3rds, one-4th, one-5th). Fun was had by all! See more photos and results here

· Nov 8^th: The Saint Francis Wrestling Club took 14 wrestlers to the Fall Oak Harbor tournament. The club had two individual champions and seven individuals placing in the top 3. Congratulations to Kyle Leedy and Jake Martin for winning individual championships! all results

· Nov 8^th: Jerome Robinson traveled to Denver Colorado to wrestle in the Denver Monster Match Tournament. Jerome came home with a three foot trophy after winning the Championship. Congratulations Jerome! all results

October 2003

• Oct 2003: Thirty-Two wrestlers attended the Avery Zerkle fall clinic
• Oct 2003: North Carolina Super 32 Challenge Tournament  Jerome Robinson wins the middle school division  view the entries, see the medal, Brad Marzec finishes 2nd in a tough 49man bracket which included 2 State Champions, 9 State Placers, and 25 Regional Placers view the entries by weight class, 2003 results
• Oct 2003: Delaware Hayes Halloween Tournament Bryce and Kyle Leedy finished 1st and 2nd respectively in a weight class with eight tough competitors (BTW, the brothers don't wrestle each other in tournament competition ... )
