Brad Marzec represented the Knights of Tol. St. Francis de Sales in the 66th Annual Ohio High School State Wrestling Championships. Brad placed 6th in the Division I, 145 pound class to become the 44th state place winner in school history. Brad finishes his Junior season with a 38-6 record and 105 total career wins. • Junior Brad Marzec (35-4) was decisioned 6-2 by the projected division I state champion and two time state placer, Senior Travis Kovach of Massillon Perry.

Consolations Round 1 Competition - Thursday 9:15pm

• Brad (36-4) defeated  Senior Mike Sanchez (34-9) of Dayton Carroll. After a scoreless first period and a 2nd period ending with only a single point being scored: Brad secured two third period takedowns to win 4-3. Congratulations!

Consolations Round 2 Competition - Friday 2:30pm

• Brad (37-4) defeated Senior Lee Carraher (32-12) of Cincinnati St. Xavier by a score of 5-3. Brad scored a takedown in the 1st period.  Carraher chose top in the 2nd and scored 3 near-fall points with a cradle. At the end of the 2nd period, Brad escaped to make the score 3-3. In the final period, Brad chose to start neutral and scored a final takedown to secure the victory.

Consolation Quarterfinals  - Friday 7:30pm

• In Brad Marzec's (38-4) fourth bout in this year's state wrestling tournament he  defeated Senior Mike Schille (23-9) of Cincinnati Oak Hills by a score of 10-5.  Brad had a total of 5 takedowns and the  victory marked the 105th of his career!

Consolation Semifinals  - Saturday 10:00am

• Brad (38-5) was defeated by senior Travis Kovach (33-7) of Massillon Perry by a score of 5-1.  The 1st period ended 0-0. Kovach scored a reversal and was penalized for locking hands in the 2nd period. With the score 2-1 in the third and Kovach warned for stalling Marzec got to his feet only to be returned to the mat and cradled as the clock ran out.

Consolation Finals  - Saturday 11:00am

• Brad Marzec finished his Junior season with a 6th place finish in the OHSAA Division I, 145 pound class. Brad (38-6)  was decisioned in overtime by the Mentor district champion Junior Kevin Ward (33-14) of Lakewood St. Edward by a score of 5-3. Brad becomes the 44th state place winner in Tol. St. Francis de Sales history.
